August 2026 at a glance
This month’s headline

Fairer Finance assesses four military insurance segments — personal accident, and budget, mid-range and high-end kit & contents. At the monthly check completed on 24 July 2026, no provider had changed its pricing or its documented cover in any segment. In all four segments, the only product rated “Great value” remains an Absolute product — for the third consecutive month. Every rating, features rank, premium and pricing rank across all 20 products assessed is unchanged from July.

How to read these tables

Each table shows two different things. Features rank tells you who gives you the most cover — position 1 has the richest cover in the segment, but that says nothing about what it costs. The value indicator is the overall verdict: Fairer Finance weighing up the cover and the price together, and asking whether you’re getting a fair deal for your money. The dark green Great value badge is the answer that matters most.

That’s why the two don’t always line up. A product can top the features table but only be rated Reasonable value if it isn’t the cheapest — and a product further down on features can be Great value because it delivers strong cover at the lowest price. The most cover isn’t automatically the best value; the best value is the right cover at the right price.

The tables are shown in features order, exactly as Fairer Finance publishes them. Look for the badge, not the row position.

Methodology and sourcing

How the ratings work, and who produces them

Fairer Finance is an FCA-authorised and regulated consumer research organisation, with which Absolute Military holds a paid subscription. It rates financial products on their real-world value — not just price. Each month it publishes fair value tables covering every product in a market segment, scored on features, pricing and overall value. The methodology, the weightings and the scoring are entirely its own, and are applied identically to every provider assessed, including us.

Ratings are awarded as Great value Reasonable value Could be improved — and we reproduce them here in full, without modification, so you can see exactly where we stand against the whole market.

Fairer Finance is an FCA-authorised and regulated consumer research organisation, with which Absolute Military holds a paid subscription. It assesses every product in each market segment against the same framework: primary features (the core cover that matters most), secondary features, tertiary features, and fees, charges & excesses. Each product receives a features rank within its segment, a pricing rank, and an overall value indicator — Great value Reasonable value Could be improved.

Scores are measured in quartiles against the whole market: a 1st-quartile score places a product in the top 25% of the market for that category.

All figures on this page — including every competitor figure — are taken directly from the Fairer Finance fair value tables as verified at the monthly check of 24 July 2026 and the underlying Fair Value Reports, without modification.
